All the while clinging, clinging to that youthful optimism

History/Biography:

Things were never the same once Lee fell.

Oh, it happened when he was in grade school, and entirely by accident, let me assure you. After all wasn't every day a kid like himself could trip right out a school window, survive the resulting eight foot drop and suffer no injuries to his skinny self.

Right, make that not one injury, not one tiny scratch whatsoever.

"Please, someone tell my mother that I have super powers!" Lee said, after the initially shock and adreniline of 'not dying' had passed.

Some proclaimed it a miracle that he'd survived.

The less credulous adults and school officials, who were alerted by Lee's excited noise below, argued that it'd ever happened at all. Maybe the kid just had especially milk-strong bones or maybe the grass was extra springy that day. No one knew. Not one really cared, anyway.

Except those in his immediate family, no one really got excited about it. His mom, Dad and older brother Bi (an out of town college student) believed him; his mother even tried to sue. Oh, and the ___ school martial arts club, which met every weekday at 8 am for practice, knew a moment of terror when their devoted youngest member, who had never missed a practice before in his LIFE, failed to show up that day.

The end result of Lee's childhood accident was that Nothing Came of It. Fond dreams of finally obtaining respect from his peers, or finally finding his 'special talent' came to nothing, because anyone he told either thought him a liar or crazy, and since he hadn't yet grown confident in himself, he believed them.

The reality was this: Lee wasn't a super hero. Angels might exist, superheroes might exist, but the only kind of angel that existed in the Real World were the human kind: fire fighters, pilots, policemen and Reporters. A human-angel was what Lee aspired to be.

As time went on, he began to forget that the Accident had ever happened. He forgot.that he could spontaneously heal himself. And if he did ram himself into the walls of Life harder than any 'normal' man could expect to recover from, well, he could take it. No pain, no gain.

These days, Lee has graduated from Konoha Community College, and still keeps in shape, thanks to a local dojo. He scours the streets for the Truth, and writes human interest stories for a small newspaper. He consults with bag ladies for stories about little kown conspiracies and rescues them from bad traffic.

Lately, he dreams new dreams of green feathers and a booming voice.
